Case Overview

A new Management Job Evaluation Plan (MJEP) came into effect for managers and non-bargaining specialists within the HR Services Division and HR Program Management Branch effective November 2017 (retroactive to 1st April, 2017). The new plan introduced new initiatives to improve the current .Net platform and look and feel of the current GoJobs portal.

GoJobs is the Ontario Public Service Careers online public portal that publishes job advertisements and offers career services and opportunities for theOntario province. cancer biomedical researchers looking to advance in their scientific career, and to potential employers who seek to recruit them. Citizen of Ontario can have access on daily basis to the available positions, and create a user profile, browse through and apply for any of the hundreds of job openings advertised.

To align eCareers with client requirements, system changes were introduced effective 14th November, 2017. Changes included modifications to the job portal look and feel, .Net platform and some functionalities, content changes, creation of new reports of active competition files with new job codes and corresponding salary ranges.

Business Challenge
The Ontario Public Services & Flex IT selected Conet-Tech consultant to modernize the Ontario Public Service Careers online public portal based on a long-standing relationship in addition to the ability to assist with business case development and cost forecasting delivered through a public cloud assessment. Conet-Tech consultant has to build on the processes and skills and meet business requirements under AODA (The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act) that contains a series of compliance deadlines that affect every employer in Ontario.

AODA is legislation that aims to eliminate barriers for people with disabilities so that they can participate fully in society. People living with a disability represent a significant opportunity and employment resource for Ontario employers. The intention is to help businesses act on this underused resource.

Conet-Tech consultant has to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines WCAG 2.0, Level AA. To meet WCAG 2.0, Level AA, an organization’s web presence must: provide captions for all live audio content in synchronized media, ensure text and images of text have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, excluding large text, incidental text and logotypes offer the ability for text to be resized without assistive technology, except for captions and images of text use text to convey information rather than images of text, ensure all headings and labels describe their respective topic or purpose ensure any keyboard operable user interface has a mode of operation where the keyboard focus indicator is visible, etc...

Solution
GoJob has been reengineered to take advantage of the latest Microsoft .NET Framework, it represents the most productive and powerful tool for applications under Microsoft environment.



Conet-Tech consultant has decided to redesign and move to a similar loo and feel of the province web site "ontario.ca", and incoporated advanced search that improves the job board platform and dbecome job seeker or employer friendly. GoJobs provides an extremely user-friendly platform for both audiences and it's very responsive.
